Time is Money! #dossieryourface

Where to start…this was such a big week!

  1. Shipped our dossier (i’ll explain)
  2. We were blessed by some more donations
  3. Started the two week countdown still we leave for Africa! Woot Woot!

Ok let’s clarify what exactly a dossier is, and no it is not a french pastry or type of dog.

Dossier (dos·si·er): When used in the context of adoption, this term refers to a set of appropriately authenticated and translated legal documents which are used in international adoption cases to process the adoption of a child in its own country by the adoptive parents, or for the adoptive parents to obtain the legal custody or guardianship of the child in the foreign court, so the child can be brought by the adoptive parents to the United States for adoption.

No I didn’t write that, but in short a dossier is a massive set of documents used by the the court system to prove we are real, have the ability to care for a child, and are includes how many freckles we have. Ok so not so much on the last one, but its a big project and it is done!

13239133_10209132764458100_7712640665253467722_nOk one the tiny cool story…that you may have seen on Elaina’s facebook page. Elaina went to the post office to mail this massive document and the same postman was there to help her that help her mail Ki’s…2 YEARS AGO!

“Dossier is in the mail…this package is our lifeline to our baby girl! The same postman shipped Ki’s dossier 2 years ago and he remembered me! Thanks Tony the postman!” – Elaina

This was another big step and we wanted to share the big news with all of you. Thank you for supporting us and encouraging us.

We have 12 days until we leave for Africa!!!!

2.5 Years and 8 inches later!

This is just us being real, which is hard when something so insurmountable is in front of you. But we are still about $20,000 short of our fundraising goal. This is not one of those radio telethons. Trust me, I’m the first guy to change the channel or switch the station when i hear people ask for money.

Our hope is that you resonate with our story. I know that for me to give my money to something, I consider the below factors.

  • How am I connected to this group or organization?
  • Do I personally connect and believe in the cause?
  • Will my money be used appropriately?

Maybe your list is different, but this is what I know…

  1. This baby girl needs a family, and I have no doubt that God placed her in this world to be a part of our family.
  2. Our hearts want nothing more than to see the life change on her face, and give her a chance to be a kid.

Lastly, the below pictures are of Ki, our middle son, also from Uganda. On the left is the picture we were sent of him on December 26th, 2013, and on the right is a picture of him a couple weeks ago…nearly 2.5 years later. IMG_3226

These pictures speak for themselves! What this image doesn’t show is his height. He grew from 2 ft 10 inches to 3 ft 6 inches in two and a half years. It’s amazing what consistent nutrition, love, and structure can do for a child. We are so blessed to call him our son and we can’t wait to meet our little girl.

“How Can I lover Her?” – Dad

This journey is so beautiful and yet so hard. Here are a few examples, faith, trust, grace, the value of prayer, having a heart for Him and those he loves, and faith! More detail? Praying for a child that you’ve never met yet feel incomplete without, finding time to care for the rest of the family, raising $40,000 in 6 weeks (wink wink), oh and working all sound like recent family conversations. It’s easy, really easy, to get caught up in the worry of some of the above items, but it’s about paying attention and know that he is teaching that’s important.

Let me tell you a recent story…the other evening, as we were lying in bed, I looked at Elaina and said, “Do you think we will love her as much as we do our other children?” Elaina respond with, “Yes.” I thought how can she be so matter a fact! We have only seen two pictures and have only been praying for our daughter for two months. So as I laid in bed I looked at our daughter’s picture, as it’s the background image on my phone, and asked God, “How can I love her? How!”

I woke up early the next morning to go work out, and was struck by three words that have been penetrating my heart ever since. “GOD LOVES HER.” How can I argue with that? He knows her laugh, her cry, every hair on her head, he created her to be in our family, he loves her! He, the God of the universe, loves my little girl!

38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,[a]neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 8:38-39

Since nothing can separate us from His love, and He loves unconditionally therefore so do I! As I reflect back on my question to God, “How can I love her?” I realize that it was the wrong question…it wasn’t how it was when, and the answer is ALWAYS!

So when you ask what is God teaching me and our family through this adoption or in this season of life…it’s how to love! When we focus on the right things we see what He is really doing and then and only then in those intimate kingdom-centered moments can God do what God does!

Much Love.

8,554 Miles To A Mama’s Heart!

Mama’s Day…I’ve been preparing myself for this day for a couple of months and now I’m just gonna let myself feel all the feels as I reflect on this day.

This day is so beautiful and so hard all at the same time. So many amazing mama’s that deserve to be celebrated today, so many women grieving today with the loss of children and dreams, and so many children without mama’s longing for love.

I am blessed to have an incredible Mama who has shaped me into the person I am today. She is the one who introduced me to Christ and set the example of a Godly woman.  She is compassionate and thoughtful, kind and loving, and truly one of my best friends.

I have three little boys that made me a Mama.  This is the hardest and most rewarding job I have ever had. There are days that I feel like a complete failure as a mama and yet He gently reminds me that I am the mama He chose for them, and I am enough.

Here’s where it gets tough…

adoptionI have a baby girl that is 8,554 miles, and a few thousands dollars, away. A baby that I have never met, never held, never kissed and yet my body and my soul yearn for her in a way that only a Mama can.

I have two precious children that I did not give birth to. Another mama carried them to term, delivered them and made the ultimate sacrifice to give them away. These women are my heroes and while I don’t know the circumstances that lead to their decisions, we are connected by a common thread; motherhood. She was the first to hold them, to feed them and to comfort them. I missed their first breaths and first cries. Mama’s Day is a time to honor these women and give thanks for their sacrificial love.

3 Weeks! Eeeekkkk!

Friends and family, usually International adoption takes months, if not years to complete. However, we have already been matched with our sweet baby girl and we have a court date for the end of MAY! That means we have less than 1 month to raise enough funds to pay our Adoption Agency as well as cover our travel expenses for our first trip.

So we would like to introduce Adopt-A-Square!
The concept is really pretty simple, no really! Below you will see a graphic with 200 squares. Each square has a number. That number represents a dollar amount. Once the dollar value has been donated, the square gets crossed out. The fundraiser continues until all squares are crossed out.

Sounds simple right?

It would be great to do this with physical envelopes on a wall in our home. But since we interact with the majority of you online, we needed to come up with a digital solution.

Adopt-a-squareSo here’s how it’ll work:
Step 1: Follow our blog, here, just look right below the family photo on the right side. This way, you can follow the progress and see which squares are available!

Step 2: Choose a square that has the cash value you want to give or raise.
– Make sure the square you want is not crossed out.
– If the square is crossed out, chose multiple squares that equal the amount you feel led to give or raise. Example: If you know you want to give or raise $100, you could choose many different square combinations to equal the sum of 100.
– To confirm your square email us at thebolingproject@gmail.com, the move on to step 3!

*Note: Your square will not be held or “claimed” while you are raising the money for your square. Our aim is to raise money fast, so the faster you raise your donation, better are the chances that you will meet your donation goal. Your money will not be counted until it has been received, posted, processed, paid, etc…

Step 3: Give or raise cash fast.
– Start your fundraising! We are excited to have you involved in this journey with us. By extending this fundraiser to your co-workers, extended family, roommates, hall-mates, Bible study group, Sunday school class, Mops group, neighbors, and everyone you know, you give them the opportunity to participate in this beautiful journey of hope for a little baby girl. So, get creative. Host a bake sale. Skip on eating out for two weeks. Get all your co-workers to give you $10. There are lots of ways to raise these amounts of money fast!
– Donate the cash value of your square by:

  1. using the PayPal DONATE button on the sidebar
  2. enter your desired dollar amount (i.e. your square number) on the https://www.paypal.me/thebolingproject webpage. then follow the simple on screen instructions.
  3. sending a CHECK? please email us at thebolingproject@gmail.com for the mailing address.
  4. TAX DEDUCTIBLE OPTIONS: Online through ecasadopt.org include “Boling” in the description, OR send a check with “Boling” in the memo to ECAS 6050 Cheshire Lane N; Plymouth, MN 55446. *if you do this please let us know so we can mark off your box(s)

Step 4: Give yourself a high five and dance around the room because YOU ARE AWESOME!!

Raising this amount of money is CRAZY, but this seems to be a fast and effective way to raise the majority of our adoption expenses fast!

Please help us extend our family to a little baby who needs a family!

much love

I Am a Child of God

Sitting in church today, and the worship song was “I am a child of God.” This is the song that spoke to my soul and convinced me that we were supposed to pursue another adoption.  I couldn’t help but cry as I let the words wash over me…

You unravel me, with a meloYup Got A Tattoody
You surround me with a song
Of deliverance, from my enemies
Till all my fears are gone

I’m no longer a slave to fear
I am a child of God
I’m no longer a slave to fear
I am a child of God

From my mothers womb
You have chosen me
Love has called my name
I’ve been born again, into your family
Your blood flows through my veins

I am surrounded
By the arms of the Father
I am surrounded
By songs of deliverance
We’ve been liberated
From our bondage
We’re the sons and the daughters
Let us sing our freedom

You split the sea
So I could walk right through it
All my fears were drowned in perfect love
You rescued me
So I could stand and sing
I am a child of God

Two of our precious children have endured unthinkable loss to join our family.  The magnitude of that humbles me and breaks my heart.  I have no idea what would lead a mama to abandon her child in the hopes for a better life.  I pray that God gives me the words to comfort my children as they process through their tragedy and loss.  Until then, I take comfort knowing that we are all “adopted” into the Kingdom of Christ. He suffered for me and my beautiful babies so that we would know the love of a Father and we can experience freedom!
